Job description

Who you are
Are you a highly motivated, (almost) graduated Life Sciences student with an interest in the research performed in the groups affiliated with the CGDB research school? Do you want the opportunity to take a good look around before deciding on where to do your PhD?

Then this programme offers you the unique chance to get to know the research school, its groups and its educational programme, to help you find the PhD position that fits best with your interests and ambitions.

What we offer
The CGDB Graduate Rotation Programme that is funded through this grant is a novel way for talented and motivated Life Sciences students to find the right PhD position. During an 8-week period students rotate though 4 CGDB labs of their choice to become acquainted with the school’s research programme, the participating research groups, and the available PhD projects.

Students who successfully complete these rotations will choose the PhD project that fits best with their interests. In addition, the top 4 students are awarded a personal grant for a PhD position in the research group of their choice, independent of the availability of a funded PhD project in that group at that time.

Qualifications

Master's students seeking a PhD position within the research school CGDB are expected to be highly motivated to perform their thesis research in this field, as the school aims to attract the most talented and motivated students in the life sciences from the Netherlands and abroad.

There are several requirements students need to meet to be eligible for the Graduate Rotation Programme:
You must be recently graduated or enrolled in your last year of a Master's programme in the Life Sciences or equivalent and able to successfully complete this programme before the start of the PhD programme.

You are expected to have proven knowledge in most of the following areas: Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Functional Genetics and Bioinformatics

You are expected to have sufficient research experience in several of these areas and to have received good reviews of your practical work.
You must be available fulltime for the 8-week rotation period
