Germany : 3 Ph.D. scholarships on Cultural Encounters

The sponsored by the DFG Graduiertenkolleg Cultural Encounters and the Discourses of Scholarship from 01.5.2010 which provides for the guidelines of the DFG grants to the following:

3 Ph.D. scholarships (basic scholarship Euro 1,000)

The aim of the internationally oriented college is to combine the empirical study of cultural contacts with reflections on the scientific representation and analysis, and thereby establish an interdisciplinary dialogue about the history of science and scientific-research on the culture conditions of our contacts. The disciplines are involved in the College of North American studies, British cultural studies, early modern history, medical history, church history, European ethnology, Germanic medieval studies, political science, music, science and religious studies. Applications are invited to all doctoral students with a higher university degree in one of those subjects or any other humanities or cultural studies specialist.

The promotional grants have a term of 2 years (extended to max. 1 years).

Please include in your application the following documents:
- Master's degree, master's or Certificate Examination
- Curriculum vitae including publication list
- A description of your dissertation project (approximately 2,000 words with bibliography and schedule)
- A letter of recommendation from a lecturer / teacher at a university thesis project

In addition to the basic grant doctoral Sachzulage one of Euro 103 as well as travel funds are available in the amount of approximately Euro 2,000 per year. The University provides each Rostock / r Fellows / to a computer workstation in a central location, a collegial atmosphere and a nice attractive landscaped environment. In return, we expect attendance during the semester and a willingness to adopt a constructive and collegial collaboration in the research team.
