Netherlands : PDEng in Logistics management Systems

Sponsored Links

The Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS) is a leading school in the area of industrial engineering and management science as well as innovation sciences. IE&IS’s mission is closely tied to its pioneering work in developing an engineering perspective on business processes as well as its interdisciplinary research on transitions in societies in relation to technical changes. At the heart of our academic philosophy is the synergy between research and teaching. Moreover, IE&IS is a decidedly small-scale department in which scholars and students together with practitioners work on critical problems at the interface of engineering, management, innovation, and human behaviour. IE&IS offers two BSc, four MSc programmes and one post master programme  and contributes to several other educational programmes of the TU/e.

Logistics Management Systems

The International program in Logistics Management Systems (LMS) is a 2-year program intended for young people who have already obtained a Master's degree in industrial engineering or a related field and who are interested in broadening and integrating their knowledge and skills in the field of logistics.

LMS is part of the Stan Ackermans Institute, which has eleven two-year full-time programs, leading to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng). Our program offers the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and experience by means of a personal and practical design assignment, under the supervision of experienced design professionals.

Program structure

  • Program Content
LMS is a typically profession-oriented program that alternates theory and practical assignment. The curriculum consists of a well-balanced combination of subjects of which the largest part is taught specifically within the context of this program. The package of subjects is constantly adapted to current developments in the field by means of guest lecturers and interviews. Education is small scale and highly interactive. Subjects are generally completed with a group assignment. In addition, each trainee has to perform two Quick Scans during the study program and carries out an in-company Logistics Design Project to complete the program.
  • Career perspective
A qualified logistics designer is able to analyse a logistic system and to (re)design an integrated logistics management system for a business process (production, distribution, administration) on the basis of a chosen product-market strategy.
In addition, the designer is able to work in a team as a consultant and to help with the development, testing and introduction of the system. He/she can play a leading role in successfully completing the project in a professional manner. Moreover, the logistics designer is well equipped to operate within an international context.
