Australia : Master of Integrated Water Management, IWC Water Leader Scholarships

The Masters program is custom-designed by leading practitioners and academics from a range of disciplines from four leading universities in Australia.

Students are trained to integrate various disciplines, such as environment, politics, law, science, culture, engineering, economics, health and society through project-centred approach.

 

The program takes a whole-of-water cycle approach and equips students with the integration, leadership and managerial skills to become part of an elite group of water leaders with sustainable and holistic solutions to global water and climate change challenges.

Scholarship value 

  • Full-tuition fees* for full-time or part-time/distance**  
  • Partial-tuition fees* for full-time or part-time/distance**  

 

(Note: the scholarship does not include travel, accommodation allowance, field work, living costs. These costs will be the responsibility of successful recipients.)

Entry requirements 

  • A completed undergraduate degree in a related field of study from an internationally-recognised institution. 
  • Two years practical experience in a related field is preferred but not required. 

 

Receive a degree from top Australian universities 

Students enrol at the University of Queensland. Upon graduation they receive a degree from four of Australia’s most prestigious universities: The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Monash University, and The University of Western Australia.

Scholarship selection criteria

  • Commitment to the whole-of-water cycle, integrated and interdisciplinary approaches to water management.
  • Leadership qualities: As demonstrated by professional, educational, community and other achievements.  Leadership qualities include collaboration and team work, flexibility, initiative, communication skills, integrity and vision.
  • Academic record: You will demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and likelihood of success in further study.
  • Professional record: As demonstrated by employment experience, awards and achievements, membership of professional bodies and professional references.
  • Potential outcomes: The likelihood of positive impacts on the individual and the water sector from participating in the MIWM Program.

Timeline of postgraduate scholarships

Closing date: Applications must be received by IWC and UQ.

1 August 2010

Notification of scholarship decision sent out to all scholarship applicants.

15 September 2010

Final date for receipt of Agreement and Response to Scholarship Offer by successful applicants.

30 September 2010

Preparation for study in Australia for international students (including visa application, travel and accommodation arrangements, etc.)

October 2009– February 2011 

International students attend compulsory international student orientation programs prior to commencement of Program

February 2011

Master of International Water Management Program commences

February/March 2011

Citizenship/visa status

Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and international applicants are eligible and encouraged to apply. Successful international applicants must meet visa requirements of the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Your application will be assessed by The University of Queensland to ensure you meet minimum requirements for entry into MIWM Program.  You will also be assessed for the Water Leaders Scholarships by a selection panel at the International WaterCentre.  The selection panel will adhere to IWC's policy of non-discrimination for this process.  Decisions of the selection panel are final and confidential. IWC will not enter into correspondence regarding outcomes of the selection process.

Other options for financial aid

 *There is only one scholarship application. The selection committee will make a decision as to which recipients will receive a full or partial tuition scholarship.

** Part-time/distance study option in 2011 is available only to Australian/NZ  citizens and permanent residents.
