Denmark : Ph.D. fellow in Motivation and public innovation for climate friendly behaviour

Forest and Landscape, Denmark, Division of Economics, Policy and Management Planning, wishes to appoint a Ph.D. fellow in Motivation and public innovation for climate friendly behaviour from 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2013.
 
Job description
The work of the Ph.D. fellow will consist mainly of duties in connection with research and development within environmental behaviour in a governance perspective. The focus is to understand how citizens are motivated and actually practice climate friendly behaviour (reduced CO2 emissions), through, e.g. their choice of transport and energy consumption, and to investigate how municipalities can support and enhance this climate friendly behaviour with the help of IT-based tools. The PhD project will be part of the strategic research project ?Citizen Driven Environmental Action?, with participants from University of Copenhagen (Department of Political Science, Forest and Landscape, Basic Sciences and Environment (IGM), Anthropology, and Computer Science), DHI and six municipalities in Denmark.

Qualification requirements
In connection with the appointment to the post special importance will be attached to the applicant having the professional and personal qualifications stated below:
 
The ideal candidate will either have a social science degree with a specialisation in environmental topics, or an environmental degree with a social science specialisation. The appointee should have qualifications within more of the following areas:
  • Climate and environment
  • Motivation and behaviour
  • Public administration, democracy and participation
  • Communication
  • Skilled user of qualitative and quantitative social science methods
  • Skilled in statistics at a user level
  • Fluent English and Danish, written and spoken
 
Passed Master?s degree in relation to the above subject area(s)
 
The Ph.D. fellow is also required to have research potential, to possess good interpersonal skills and to be enterprising.
 
 
Terms of employment
The post will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
 
The position as Ph.D. fellow requires the applicant to be approved for admission to the Ph.D. programme at LIFE when accepted for the post.
