Belgium : Doctor-assistant in Bioinformatics

Within the Center for Statistics, the UHasselt entity of the Interuniversity Institute for Biostatistics and statistical Bioinformatics (I-BioStat) of Hasselt University, the following position (m/f) is available:

Doctor-assistant in Bioinformatics (3 years)
(mandate 090/32/105)

Job description
The candidate will strengthen and extend the current research and educational potential of the Center of Statistics in the field of bioinformatics. She/he will support the coordination of scientific research and education projects. In this respect, multi disciplinary collaboration will be of great importance.

Profile
The candidate has got a proven (methodological and applied) research output in bioinformatics and/or computational biology. A solid knowledge of (bio)statistics will be an asset. The candidate has got a strong record in scientific collaboration. Experience in international research and collaboration, with a knowledge of several application areas (such as oncology, infectious diseases, immune-system diseases, …), is preferable. The candidate has got experience with respect to various aspects of academic education: coordination and organization of courses and/or supervision of practical sessions, development of teaching material, and supervision of projects and theses.

Diploma
The candidate holds a doctoral or PhD degree in a computational science (e.g. bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology).

The vacancy concerns a 3-year position starting from 1 October 2010.
