Project descriptions
Two PhD fellowships are now available in the Centre for Catalysis and Sustainable Chemistry (CSC) at DTU Chemistry. CSC is applying an application-oriented research strategy and employs currently about 20 PhD students and post docs in an international environment.

One of the available PhD projects will be concerned with development of new environmental catalytic technology for cleaning of flue gasses for nitrogen oxides generated from power production using fossil fuels and biomass. The other PhD project will be concerned with development of new heterogenized homogeneous catalyst systems applicable for production of commodity chemicals in continuous processes.

Both projects will be linked to collaborative research projects in the centre with other university partners and chemical industry, and involve inorganic synthesis, structural characterization, separation technology and catalyst testing using continuous flow fixed-bed reactor systems.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a master's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with a strong background in experimental chemistry and commitment to research. Practical experience with different synthetic- and catalyst characterization techniques is preferred. Proficiency in written and spoken English is a prerequisite.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The positions are available for a three-year period with start from 1 September 2010.
