Germany : 3-year GSISH-funded PhD Studentship in Department of Nuclear Medicine

The Department of Nuclear Medicine of Klinikum rechts der Isar at Technische Universität München is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates for a 3-year GSISH-funded PhD Studentship.


The goal of the project is the evaluation of the performance of a new MR-PET instrumentation hardware and consequently the establishment of a new methodology for MR-PET in order to reduce motion and attenuation artefacts. In addition to this, the student will adapt existing coil concepts specifically to combined MR-PET systems or even develop novel concepts as well as examine novel materials suitable for this purpose. Integrated into a well funded academic infrastructure comprising cooperations between the Department of Nuclear Medicine, the Central Institute of Medical Technology and the ongoing joint research program Munich HYCON, the student has the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary, multi-national team with a well-established network throughout the world.

Qualifications:
The applicant should have a technical degree (physics, engineering, computer science or related) and intend to obtain the Ph.D. Degree within the scheduled time of 3 years. Theoretical and experimental experience with PET and/or MR imaging and instrumentation hardware is expected. Good programming skills are also required as well as high motivation and interest in performing data analysis and active participation in experimental work. Very good writing and communication skills in English are of advantage.

Our offer:
He/She will become part of the highly renowned TUM Graduate School of Information Science in Health (GSISH) and a student member of TUM, one of Germany's first universities of excellence. The GSISH will actively assist the candidate in achieving a Ph.D. degree within the scheduled time of three years. The payment and the conditions of employment follow the specifications of TUM-GSISH scholarships.
