Doctoral student position is available in structural and biochemical studies of neuronal synaptic leucine rich repeat proteins (LRR), such as LRRTMs and their ligands, neurexins. The goal is to obtain crystal structures of LRR proteins with their ligands and design of inhibitors to study function of these proteins with collaborators, and secondly to study folding in vivo/in vitro of these proteins. Biochemical characterization of binding and cloning and expression and protein engineering of different constructs will form the first part of the work. Several constructs are already available for expression.

An appointee to the position of doctoral student shall hold a second-cycle degree and have an approved research proposal. Other requirements shall include the ability and motivation, as demonstrated in previous degree studies or otherwise, to pursue postgraduate studies and a doctoral degree according to the study plan and research proposal.
