Germany : PhD student position in ageing and neurodegenerative disorders

The DZNE (Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen) is a newly created center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that is engaged in translational research on neurodegenerative diseases. The center includes a major site in Bonn and additional sites in Goettingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tuebingen and Witten.We are looking for a young scientist to join as PhD student on a project in the field of ageing and neurodegenerative disorders. Students at the end of their master or diploma are encouraged to apply. We expect high motivation, commitment and ability to work under pressure. Good English communication skills are essential. Major focus of the group led by Dr Daniele Bano is the identification and characterization of genes that can delay ageing and have a role in neurodegeneration. We offer the opportunity to work in an international, collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, very well equipped laboratories and a range of interesting projects. Genetic of the nematode C.elegans, mammalian in-vitro and in-vivo models of neuronal degeneration are widely used in the lab. Payment is corresponding to half of the TVöD (Public Sector Collective Agreement) salary group 13. The job location is Bonn, Germany.
