Germany : Postdoctoral Position for Biostatistician in Systems Biology Laboratory

We seek a biostatistician to analyze high throughput experimental data
as part of a new research focus in molecular systems biology at the Gene Center Munich. Jointly advised by the principal investigator and biostatistics faculty at the LMU and in close interaction with experimentalists, the appointee will be responsible for the analysis, comparison, and evaluation of genome-scale data sets of various types, with a focus on transcription control in development, regulatory networks, and molecular mechanisms of glial function.

The Gene Center of the LMU Munich is an interdisciplinary institute whose 15 independent groups study gene regulation at every level, from molecular mechanism to biological system. The Center provides a dynamic, highly interactive, and internationally diverse scientific environment, located within a vibrant biomedical research campus in
Munich-Großhadern.

Your tasks: Developing, evaluating, and implementing strategies for the statistical analysis of a diverse range of genome-scale data, including transcription profiles based on microarrays, transcriptional activity measurements using high throughput luciferase assays, mapping of nucleosome and transcription factor binding through ChIP and deep sequencing, phenotypic readouts for RNAi-treated cells using high throughput FACS and high content analysis.

Your profile: PhD in (bio-)statistics or similar qualification, with a strong background in data analysis and applied statistics, preferably of genomic and proteomic data; experience in image analysis is a plus.
Must have excellent analytical and technical abilities (R programming), an enthusiastic and flexible approach towards exploring biological data and tackling new problems, and the communication skills to work with a diverse group of researchers.

The salary is according to the TV-L and depends on your qualification and experience. The position is available immediately and will initially be for three years. The University of Munich is an equal opportunity employer; part-time employment is possible.
