The Chair of Applied Economics part of the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (MTEC) at ETH Zurich is associated to the KOF Swiss Economic Institute (www.kof.ethz.ch) and its members work in close collaboration with the Center for Economic Research (www.cer.ethz.ch). Successful candidates are expected to conduct applied econometric research in the field of public economics.

The successful candidate will contribute to a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) research project on labour taxation, executive pay and the investment and location decision of firms. This project aims at constructing a large panel data-set on effective labour taxes and estimate the consequences of labour and profit taxation for the migration of high-skilled people, the incidence of taxes on firms and high-income workers, and the investment and location decisions of firms with reduced-form as well as structural models.
The main focus of this position will be on research. Depending upon your preferences, it might furthermore involve a small teaching load.

You hold an MA in economics or a related field (ideally, with some knowledge of statistical methods). Interest in applied micro econometric research is of advantage. You want to acquire a Ph.D. in Economics. An excellent command of English is required.

You will have the opportunity to conduct academic and policy-relevant economic research in an inspiring environment at ETH Zurich. The position implies writing a dissertation related to the research project. The appointment is for a fixed term of three years. Gross salary will be 60 % of a full time position in accordance with the regulations of the ETH Zurich. The starting date is subject to negotiation.
