Job description

The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines. It is required that the applicant will be able to complete a project and publish articles in recognized international journals during the period of appointment. The post-doctoral researcher is expected to participate in one of the established research groups at the Faculty

Personal qualities

We are looking for highly motivated and competent candidates. Personal suitability and co-operation skills will receive attention in the selection process.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree. No one can be appointed for a position as postdoctoral researcher for more than one specified period at the same institution. Applicants that can take part and further develop the Faculty of Educational Siences research priorities and profile will be given priority.

The applicants must submit a project proposal that is relevant for one of these research areas. In the application the applicant must identify the research area within which the application is being made, and the research group they wish to be affiliated with. They are also advised to contact the leader of the respective research-group before sending in their application, since the post-doctoral researchers will be affiliated to the group for which their project is relevant.

The project proposal is not to exceed 10 pages and is to be attached to the electronic application.

An online application must be written in English. Applicants must attach a project proposal, including a time schedule for the qualifying work as well as copies of educational certificates, letters of recommendation and a list of reference persons. We also ask that the applicants attach a complete list of publications and all academic work that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee, preferably as PDF files.

When considering the application, the quality of the project proposal and relevance of the proposed project are particularly important, along with the quality of previous education, publications, and the ability to work independently and in a team. Importance will also be placed on the professional and personal qualities needed to complete the project and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the relevant prioritised area.

Shortlisted candidates will be called in for an interview.

Appointment to a position as post doctoral researcher is for 3 years, with 10 % of the time to be used for teaching or other tasks. Further details about appointment as a post doctoral researcher can be found on:  Guidelines postdoc

The place of work will be determined upon appointment, and is contingent upon the professional content of the project and affiliation with a research group.

The University of Oslo has an agreement regarding acquisition of rights to work results for all employees, with the aim to secure rights to research results etc.

According to the Norwegian Freedom of Information Act (offentleglova) information about the applicant may be included in the public applicant list, even though the applicant has requested non disclosure.
