UK : 3 PhD Anniversary Studentships at The College of Physical and Applied Sciences, Bangor University

The College of Physical and Applied Sciences invites applications for 3 PhD Anniversary Studentships starting in 2011. We welcome applications from Home/EU and International students.

Research Areas

We are seeking applicants in the following areas where we are especially strong.

School of Electronic Engineering

• Optoelectronics or Organic Electronics

School of Computer Science

• Visualisation or pattern recognition/machine learning

School of Chemistry

• Materials Chemistry

Bangor University Anniversary Research Studentships

Each holder of a PhD studentship receives an annual maintenance grant of £13,000 (for 2011/12). For the following two years (2012/13; 2013/14) the stipend will reflect Research Councils UK guidance. PhD studentship holders also receive an annual research allowance of up to £1,500 (for approved expenditure). Studentship holders do not pay fees. No additional allowances are payable. Successful studentship applicants will be expected to supply around 100 hours per year of teaching/research assistance focused on a superviser / research team as part of their development as an academic of the future.

Anniversary Scholarships Application Procedure

The application deadline is 3 June 2011 and we expect to inform applicants of the outcome of their applications by mid-July.

If so, please state where you heard about the Research Project or Studentship AND write the full project title here)'
