ART. 1 – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The University of Verona opens the public  selection  for  the admission to Graduate Schools and Doctoral Programs, Year 2012.

For each Graduate School candidates can find information regarding the study programs, number of places and scholarships available, criteria for the evaluation of qualifications (if provided), dates for admission exam sessions, the possibility of choosing to take the exams in a foreign language and any other information in Attachment 1 “List of Contents and Detailed Tables”, published in the University’s Official Register (Albo Ufficiale di Ateneo) and at: www.univr.it (Research – National
and International Doctoral Programs – The Research Doctorate at Verona University).
 
ART. 2 –INSTITUTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF GRADUATE SCHOOLS AND DOCTORAL PROGRAMS 
The Graduate Schools and Doctoral Programs held during the year 2012 will have their administrative base in the University of Verona, according to the Rectorial Decree no. 1437/2011 of 07.06.2011.
Doctoral Programs will start on  the 1st  of January 2012 (the academic year will coincide with the  calendar year) only if there is a minimum of three people enrolled for each Doctoral Program.

Doctoral Programs, lasting at least three years, finish with the doctoral thesis defence  that has to take place not after the month of June of the year following the doctoral program conclusion. 
The Doctor Research degree is conferred by the  Rector after the conclusion of the doctoral program and on proposal of the Doctoral Examination Committee.
The release of the official certification stating the conferral of  the Doctor Research degree, will be subordinated to the deposit and uploading of doctoral theses on Verona University Open Archive (U-GOV) where they will be stored and consulted by public.
According to the national laws in force, the University of Verona will be responsible for the deposit of doctoral theses at the National Libraries of Rome and Florence.
 
 
ART. 3 – ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 
In order to be able to apply for admissions to Graduate Schools and/or Doctoral Programs, any applicant  (regardless of age or nationality) must be in possession of either a  “Laurea Specialistica/Magistrale” or a   “Laurea” Degree  (Vecchio Ordinamento)  released by an  Italian university.  Are able to apply also students with a foreign Master’s Degree (Master of Science or Master of Arts) or an equivalent Master of Science-level degree that in their country grants access to a Ph.D. program. Applicants who will qualify for their degree within and not after the  beginning  date of Doctoral Programs (1st  January 2012) will also be able to apply.

Applications, addressed to  the Rettore dell'Università degli Studi di Verona, Via dell’Artigliere 8 – 37129 Verona – Italy, consisting in Attachment A duly filled in, together with any qualification as required by the procedures, must be submitted to the University of Verona within the deadline set
for August 31st, 2011, by means of:  

Hand delivery (specifying on the envelope “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION PROCESS TO BE ADMITTED TO  DOCTORAL  PROGRAM IN   …….  ,  GRADUATE SCHOOL OF  ……..) at  the University of Verona Post Office  – Via dell’ Artigliere n. 8, Verona, in the following hours: Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 14.00; 
 
Postal delivery addressed to  Al  Rettore dell'Università degli Studi di Verona, Via dell’Artigliere 8 – 37129 Verona – Italia specifying on the envelope “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION PROCESS TO BE ADMITTED  TO  DOCTORAL  PROGRAM  IN  …….,  GRADUATE SCHOOL  OF ……..)
 
ATTENTION: Applications must be submitted within the deadline, with no exceptions (Date as postmark). Any applications received after the deadline will be rejected.   
 

ART. 10 – SCHOLARSHIP
The amount  granted for a scholarship is  € 13.638,47 per year (gross) and will be increased in situations stipulated by law. The scholarship is exempt from IRE (personal income tax). The scholarship will be granted for the entire duration of the Doctoral program  (three years) and the instalments will be paid monthly on the 30th day of each month. The first instalment of January 2012 will be paid at the end of the same mouth ONLY  IF within  the deadline set for December 15th, 2011  students will be correctly enrolled in our programmes and will have submitted all the necessary documentation required. 
The  scholarship will be increased  of 50% during authorised study periods abroad.  Should the student be suspended or excluded from the Doctoral Program, the scholarship will be granted just for the period in which he/ she attended it.
