A three years PhD position in the area of Cancer Stem Cell Biology and Proteomics is available at The Lundbeckfonden Centre of Excellence NanoCAN (Nanomedicine Research Centre for Cancer Stem Cell-Targeting Therapeutics). The position is connected to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science at the University of Southern Denmark.

NanoCAN is an interdisciplinary centre comprising experts from the specialities of physics, chemistry, molecular biology, and clinical researchers. Its main goal is the conception of modular nucleic-acid based nanodrugs for cancer stem cell elimination.

Requirements
Qualified candidates must have an MSc degree in biomedicine, biotechnology, cell biology or molecular biology at the time of employment as well as experience in cancer research, cell biology and molecular biology. Applicants with expertise in working with innovative techniques for the construction of stable cancer cell lines, advanced gene cloning techniques, and in working with cancer stem cells will be preferred.

Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 1 October 2008 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
