The Department of Informatics (IFI) is one of nine departments belonging to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo. IFI is Norway’s largest university department for broad education and research in Computer Science and related topics. You can read more about the Department here: http://www.mn.uio.no/ifi/english/. The Department has near 800 students on bachelor level, 300 master students, and over 200 PhD students. The overall staff of the Department is close to 250 employees; about 150 of these are full time scientific positions: about 60 Full/Associate Professors. The fellowship is for a duration of up to 3 years.

Job description

The positions belongs to the research project ”From local breakthroughs in knowledge to integration in medical practice” (KINT) within the Global Infrastructures (GI) research group at the Department of Informatics. KINT is a collaborative project also involving the Department of Innovation and Economic Organization at BI/Norwegian Business School and the Intervention Centre at Oslo University Hospital. The project will focus on the challenges related to development and implementation of new technology, as an outcome of the current organizing, regulations and institutional frameworks within healthcare. The PhD candidate will be part of a research group of a postdoctor and two PhD's plus senior researchers in an international environment. For information about the KINT project see:

In the evaluation of the candidates their potential contribution to the KINT project as well as the GI group’s research agenda, in particular through their research proposal, will be given emphasis. Requirements

Applicants must have a recognized University degree, like “cand.scient”, “siv. Ing.”, Master of Science or equivalent in a subject area relevant for the planned research

The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

The fellowship requires admission to research training programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. An approved plan for the research training, including a project outline, must be submitted no later than two months after taking up the position, and the admission must be approved within three months.

Salary

PhD Research Fellow (SKO 1017), pay Grade: 48-56 (NOK 391 100 – 448 100) per year depending on qualifications and seniority.

  • CV (summarizing education, positions and academic work, administrative experience and other qualifying activity)
  • Copies of transcripts of records, and educational certificates
  • List of publications and up to 5 academic work that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee
  • Names and contact details of 2-3 references (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number)
