Sweden : One to Two PhD student positions in mathematics

Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application:

One to Two PhD student positions in mathematics

at the Department of Mathematics, commencing 1 January 2012, or according to a mutual agreement.

Duties: The duties of a PhD student are primarily directed at his/her own research education, which lasts 4 years. The job may also involve to a limited extent (maximum 20 %) other departmental duties, mainly related to teaching undergraduate courses - in which case the position may be extended to maximum 5 years. The salary level is set by the university regulations. During the first year of studies the principle of 80 % study grant and 20 % assistantship is applied.

Required qualifications: The applicant should have a master's degree in mathematics or an equivalent, or at least in all likelihood obtain such a degree no later than 1 January 2012. He/she should have a good command of spoken and written English.

Application procedure: A complete application should contain

1. A short and concise description of research interests, previous experiences and future expectations.
2. Curriculum Vitae.
3. Copies of diplomas and certificates of grades.
4. A copy of master's degree dissertation (or a preliminary outline thereof).

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
