The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS - e.V. is located in Dortmund and Berlin. Besides scientific activities in the development of new or improved measuring meth-ods and analytical separation techniques as well as spectroscopy and spectrometric equip-ment in modern analysis, research is undertaken in the areas of spectroscopic methods and analytical contributions to solve problems in the fields of materials and life sciences.

For our Department of Interface Spectroscopy in Berlin, ISAS invites applications for a posi-tion in a DFG- Project (in cooperation between Clemson University, Clarkson University, Leibniz-Institute for Polymer Research Dresden, University of Göttingen) within the frame of a Materials World Network project: ”Switchable polymer interfaces for bottom-up stimulation of mamalian cells“

PhD position (m/f).

As a member of the interface spectroscopy team your research will involve:

• Characterization of the structure of ultrathin polymer films and structural changes of the switchable solid-liquid interface upon adsorption of proteins.
• Research travels to Clemson and Clarkson University
• Research with optical spectroscopy (e.g. Infrared ellipsometry and spectroscopy)

The successful applicant will have a strong background in physical chemistry. Experience in optical spectroscopy methods like ellipsometry or infrared spectroscopy would be an advantage. The applicant must hold a Master, Diploma or equivalent degree in physics or chemistry that allows direct admission for doctoral studies in Germany. Applications by those awaiting the award of their degree are welcome.
