Sweden : Doctoral student in Water an Environmental Studies

The PhD candidate will work on effects of nitrogen and sulphur deposition and temperature increase on the microbial community structure in boreal peatlands. An undergraduate degree with documented skills in microbial ecology and in the use of genetic molecular techniques is necessary to qualify for the position. Experience of using molecular techniques for microbial characterisation in peat is of high merit.

Requirements and qualifications
To be qualified for doctoral studies at Water and Environmental Studies applicants should have a MA in an area relevant to the research project. Excellent use of the English language is required. To be hired as PhD student formal admittance to research education is required.

Appointment time
The appointment is given for one year at a time, and will be renewed yearly subject to successful performances of duties. The programme corresponds to four yeras of full-time studies. Optionally, there may be further teaching and administrative commitments for 20% of the time, which means that the time to fulfil the requirements for the PhD-exam will be five years in total. The funding as employed doctoral student is always subject to tax and social security deductions.

According to the present standard rate for doctoral students at the department.
