For the Condensed Matter Theory Group we are looking for a

PhD Student

for the numerical simulation of two dimensional magnetic systems with disorder

Your tasks

  • Perform original research on the qualitative and quantitative role of disorder in model two dimensional magnetic systems using the Monte Carlo simulation technique 
  • Provide simulation support for the on-going experimental program in the Group of Prof. Dr L. Heyderman in LMN-SYN-PSI/DMATL-ETHZ

Your profile

You hold a Master degree in physics, material science or in a related field and enjoy numerical modelling of experimentally relevant systems. Knowledge of magnetism and statistical mechanics is beneficial. As an enthusiastic researcher you like to work in a team.

You will be registered as a PhD Student at the Department of Materials, ETH Zurich and your main working place will be the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen.
