Job description:

The Protein Research Group at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a position as a postdoctoral research fellow within the field of epigenetics and functional proteomics to be filled by 15 September, 2009 or soon thereafter.

The research project encompasses the development and application of mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies to study epigenetic events and chromatin dynamics in the context of cellular development and cancer. The project is part of the Center-of-Excellence in Epigenetics funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.

Applications are sought from highly motivated candidates with a PhD degree in biochemistry, pharmacology or a related field and documented experience in protein biochemistry, mass spectrometry and/or proteomics. Expertise in affinity-enrichment techniques, computational biology or bioinformatics is preferable, but not a requirement.

The position is for one year’s duration with the possibility of extension for additional years.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a strong, international and competitive research environment within the fields of molecular genetics and cell biology, protein chemistry and mass spectrometry, molecular microbiology and biophysics.

The applications will be assessed by an expert assessor and the applicants will be informed of their own assessment by the university.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
