Announcement for the comparative evaluation, by means of the cadidates’ qualifications and exams, for admission to the IUAV School of Doctorate Studies, for the academic year 2009/10

IMPORTANT: read the Announcement carefully before presenting the application forms.

The deadline for presenting the application forms for the comparative evaluation is 18 September 2009.

The University IUAV of Venice announces the comparative evaluation, based on qualifications and exams, for admission to the IUAV School of Doctorate Studies 2009/10 academic year, for the following courses:

• Architectural Composition – places available: eight.
• New Technologies and Territorial and Environmental Information - places available: four.
• Territory: Planning and Policy Making – places available: eight
• Design Sciences – available places: six.
• History of Architecture and Urban Planning – available places: six.
• Urban Planning – available places: eight.
• Theories and History of the Arts (ARS) – places available: four.
• Quality of Design - European Doctorate in Architecture and Urban Planning, V Cycle – places available: four.

A maximum of 2 extra postgraduate students may be admitted to each course, provided they appear in the list of merit for each course, and according to the order of ranking. The extra students admitted must be either:

• - of foreign nationality and beneficiaries of a scholarship awarded by the Minister of Foreign Affairs or a scholarship with any other title;
• - research fellowship holders without a scholarship provided that the course attended deals with the same area of scientific discipline for which their research fellowship applies. At the end of the course, the extra doctorate students admitted who hold research fellowships are expected to present a different research thesis from the one carried out at the conclusion of the fellowship-related activities.

Descriptions with specific information for each doctorate course are attached to, and are an integral part of, the present announcement.

A number of scholarships, not less than 50% of the available places, will be granted for each Doctorate course.

The scholarship assigned for the three-year period, for an annual total gross amount of €13.638,47 (before social security taxes), is awarded on the basis of comparative evaluation, and according to the order of the respective ranking.
