A PostDoc Position in the field of Organic Chemistry and Synthetic Glycochemistry is available at the Division of Organic Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna
The research Project aims the development of immuno-modulating LPS mimetics as ligands for cytosolic proteins sensing Gram-negative bacterial antigens.
The work package focuses on the chemical synthesis of oligosaccharides, glycosyl phosphates, glycolipids and elaboration of glycosylation methods.
The work is highly synthesis oriented and it is desirable that a candidate has practice with executing multi-step organic synthesis. Experience in the synthesis of carbohydrates (glycosylation, phosphorylation, protecting group manipulation) is advantageous.
- Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Organic Chemistry (Bioorganic chemistry). A background in natural product synthesis, synthesis of glycosides/oligosaccharides and glycolipids is advantageous.
- Strong interest in synthetic organic chemistry, excellent background in common analytical and purification methods (HPLC, MS, NMR), dedication to experimental work and a good command of written and spoken English is required.
The position is available for 1 year and is within the standard FWF (Austrian Science Fund) salary range for PostDoc under full coverage of the Austrian social security system. Extension for an additional year is possible. Salary and additional benefits are according to FWF standards (http://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/ ).
