Description: The candidate will join a computational biology group that was started in 2011 with the focus of providing answers to fundamental biological questions through the development of complex algorithms and software that analyse large amounts of RNA and DNA data, in close collaboration with other groups in Sweden and around the world.
Duties: In particular, duties include the design and implementation of bioinformatics software for the assembly and analysis of metatranscriptome data from short NGS reads and other data obtained from mixed-species environments. The position may also include teaching at all levels and supervision of masters- and graduate students.
Qualifications required: To qualify for an employment on a post-doctoral position the applicant must hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended on circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in trade unions, etc.
To be eligible for this position, the applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree. The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background (physics, informatics, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related field), coupled with interest in biological sciences, in particular the analysis of large transcriptomic data sets.Experience in computational biology is a plus, but not a must. The candidate should be proficient in the C++ programming language, and have experience in software development involving complex algorithms. Excellent communication skills are required, since the candidate will collaborate with scientists of very different backgrounds. Goodspoken and written English is required.
