The PhD project aims to develop polymer vesicles, or polymersomes, as nanoreactors in flow chemistry. Polymersomes are used to stabilize and physically separate metal catalysts and enzymes, in order to perform effectively cascade reactions. Furthermore, the nanoreactors will be embedded in flow systems to perform cascade reactions in continuous mode. This project is part of a large European program (FET-open One-Flow), which brings together process engineers, (synthetic) organic chemists, and nanoscientists to develop the next generation pharmaceutical production processes.
We are looking for a candidate with a background in polymer chemistry, and with an affinity for catalysis and supramolecular chemistry/nanoscience. The candidate should be able to collaborate in a team of multidisciplinary scientists. He/she should be target-driven and able to develop creative solutions. Well-developed communication skills are important.
