We are opening a call for the applications for the assistant/associate/full professor level, Avast funded Chair in Cybersecurity at the Artificial Intelligence Center and the Department of Computer Science.
The Artificial Intelligence Center (http ://aic.fel.cvut.cz/ ) and the Department of Computer Science (http://cs.fel.cvut.cz/ ) , at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague are rapidly growing research oriented entities, one of the leading research and education institutions in the combined fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, multiagent systems and robotics. While the AI center focuses on fundamental and application oriented research and technology transfer in the various fields of AI, the department provides bachelor and master students with a specialised computer science program. Repeatedly, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been pronounced as the best research and education institution in computer science countrywide and according to the QS ranking, CTU has been identified as best computer science university in region of Central Europe and second best in the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe.
The department and the AI center have been active in the field of computer security. Since the departure of several researchers to a department affiliated startup Cognitive Security, which has been in 2013 acquired by CISCO Systems, the department collaborates with CISCO through CTU-CISCO joint research program. AVAST, yet another industrial partner to the department is one of the leading AV companies, who have acquired NYSE listed AV company AVG in 2016 and became one of the leaders in the field. AVAST is funding the respective chair. Research in cybersecurity at the AI center has been funded by US Army, US Air Force and US Navy.
We are opening an international call for applications for Avast f unded chair in computer security in the rank of associated or assistan t professor le ading toward a tenure track contract. Special arrangement can be made for candidates qualifying for the full professors rank. We will require the candidate to demonstrate a record of successful research achievements and/or an evidence of excellent industrial relevance. The candidate, PhD holder, needs to be ready for an academic career, while be keen to collaborate with industry to further develop her/his expert knowledge. The candidate will assume leadership in cybersecurity lecturing, will continue developing his own research agenda, publish in high impact publications and will supervise master and PhD students. The applicant will be expected to write funding proposals and secure further research funding. It is expected that the candidate will form long term vision of the department in cybersecurity.
The department will be offering a monthly gross salary of 75.000 CZK per month, which represents almost 3 times national average and approximately double of an average starting salary for university assistant professor. The proposed salary will provide the candidate with comfortable enough living condition for an exciting life in Prague, a trendy European capital city.
Interested applicants are requested to provide documents including: (i) latest curriculum vitae, (ii) copies of the latest academic diploma, (iii) list of 10 most impactful results and explanation of the impact, (iv) copies of the three best papers that the selection committee will carefully review, (v) 3 years research plan and (vi) list of three reference letters from research scientists, professors or industry experts.
