Australia : Doctoral Program in Political and Social Thought

CCPP Doctoral Program in Political and Social Thought

About the PhD program

In the Centre for Citizenship and Public Policy we bring political and social thought to bear on important challenges of our time—rethinking public value; what is the relation of ethics to politics?; and how are we to intelligently, cooperatively and creatively adapt to change?

We offer a new four year PhD program in Political and Social Thought that includes a compulsory first year of advanced graduate coursework followed by a supervised research thesis.

At the Centre doctoral students will participate in courses, seminars and supervisory relationships with staff who are interested in the following research themes:

  • Collective action and practices of political engagement
  • Capacity for ethical action
  • The history of publics and jurisdictions
  • Citizenship and human rights
  • Rethinking the ideas of wealth and well-being
  • Subjective life and politics
  • Rebuilding the capacity of government
  • The pragmatics of government and public policy

For more detailed information on these themes, select CCPP research program.
