18-23 July 2010, Vienna, Austria
INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME APPLICATION TERMS & CONDITIONS – General
Applicants

The International AIDS Society (IAS) is administering the International Scholarship Programme for the XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010) in Vienna, Austria, 18-23 July 2010. The purpose of the programme is to support the attendance of people who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend the conference.

Please read the following information carefully before you begin your application.

internationalscholarship@aids2010.org.
• The information you provide on this form is considered confidential and will only be used for AIDS 2010 including its
accredited affiliated events.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
• The International Scholarship Programme is open to everyone working or volunteering in the HIV/AIDS field in any country, including Austria.
• Application deadline: 10 February 2010. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
• You must be at least 16 years of age at the time of the conference (that is, turn 16 on or before 18 July 2010) to apply for
a scholarship.
• If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 at the time of the conference, you will need to show proof of an accompanying
adult on your application. Note that the accompanying adult will not receive a scholarship if your application is successful.
• You must complete the application form only once and press the “SUBMIT” button at the end of the form. A confirmation number will appear on the screen automatically after your application has been submitted.
• You cannot return to the application form after you have submitted to change any details, so please ensure you adequately complete it the first time.
• Application forms must be completed in full. Incomplete applications cannot be considered for a scholarship.
• Application forms must be completed in English. The official language of the conference is English.
• If you receive a scholarship, you will not be reimbursed for any component of your request (i.e., registration, travel or accommodation). The scholarship team will coordinate those components once the scholarship is awarded.
• As only a limited number of scholarships are available and the demand is so high, it is strongly recommended you also seek funding from other sources.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
• All general scholarship applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from your organization, institute or affiliation
through the upload function BEFORE the deadline of 10 February 2010. If this document is not submitted, your application will not be considered.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION
• Acceptance of an abstract, workshop or programme activity submission does not guarantee a scholarship.
• ABSTRACTS: If you are submitting an abstract (for which you are the presenting author) the success of your submission will be the basis for the scholarship being granted to you. Please note that the scholarship is connected to the abstract, not the individual. Therefore, if the presenter changes, the scholarship will move to the new presenter. Please do not submit a General International Scholarship application if you intend to be the presenting author on an abstract. If you are
the presenting author you should apply for a scholarship beginning in the abstract submission system.

WORKSHOPS or PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES: If you are submitting a workshop or programme activity proposal where you are the organizer/facilitator, you may apply for a scholarship beginning in the submission system. All co-organizers/co-facilitators requesting scholarships are encouraged to submit a general application, noting the
workshop/programme activity reference number within the application.

CORRESPONDENCE
• Correspondence between the International Scholarship Programme team and scholarship applicants will be done primarily by email. Therefore you must have a valid personal email address that you regularly check.
• Any enquiries concerning your application for an International Scholarship should be addressed to
