Denmark : Postdoc researcher in Economics required at Aarhus School of Business

The Department of Economics at Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University (ASB) invites applications for a position as post doc researcher for a research project within the field of prevalence of sickness absenteeism.

The Department of Economics conducts research and teaching within several fields of economics. The Department gives high priority to research at an international level, and members of the Department focus on ranked international research outlets, a high share of external research funding and international network cooperation. The Department has seen persistent growth in terms of both faculty members and research output over the past years. The Department is heading towards further growth in terms of offering new courses and degrees as well as aiming to increase its faculty with additional tenure positions in the future. The Department offers excellent research facilities, with ample opportunities for conference participation and international collaboration. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the Department’s strong track record in research, teaching and internationalisation.

The Department currently focuses on three separate research areas within economics:

  • Labour Economics and Education Economics
    Centre for Research in Integration, Education, Qualifications and Marginalization (CIM)
  • Personnel Economics and Labour Economics with emphasis on employees and firms.
    Centre for Corporate Performance (CCP)
  • Industrial Economics and International Economics.
    The prioritized Research Group Globalisation and Industry Dynamics (GlobID)

 

The open position as post doc researcher is within the Centre for Corporate Performance (CCP). The position is for a 2-year period. The position is related to a research project within the field of prevalence of sickness absenteeism. It is realized in cooperation with Professor Niels Westergård-Nielsen and Norwegian researchers and is financed by the Research Council of Norway. The project uses Danish register data. Thus, knowledge of econometric methods for analysis of both individual and longitudinal data is required. The starting date for the position is subject to individual negotiation. The successful candidate must have completed his/her PhD before taking up the position. However, interim arrangements can be negotiated for a candidate that is in the defence phase of the PhD or is expected to complete the PhD in early 2010.

  • Documents substantiating teaching and research qualifications
  • A complete and numbered list of publications and working papers. Research publications and working papers which the applicant wishes to be included in the evaluation should be marked by an asterisk (*).
  • The asterisk-marked scientific publications
  • Co-author statements relating to the publications enclosed

 

The application should be sent in three copies to the address given below.

Please note that a maximum of five research publications and/or working papers may be submitted.

The applications will be evaluated by an assessment committee which is authorised to ask for supplementary material from applicants if it deems this necessary. Applicants will receive a copy of the part of the committee’s recommendation which concerns their own application.

Applicants, who are found qualified for the position by the expert assessment committee, may be invited for an interview. In making the final decision, ASB will give priority to the applicants who have demonstrated the best research potential.

The appointment will be made in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the appointee’s organisation.
