Brisbane based research institute in the University of Queensland seeks an experienced postdoctoral research fellow in the bio-applications of nanoporous and nano-materials.

The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) was established as a Research Institute of the University of Queensland in late 2002. The Institute is multi-disciplinary in focus with a membership that consists of world-class researchers working in the areas of bioengineering and nanotechnology. Research effort in these multi-disciplinary fields will focus on producing new products, processes and devices for improving human health and quality of life.

The research group, led by Prof. Chengzhong Michael Yu has rich experiences in the synthesis, characterization and applications of nanoporous and nanostructured materials. Current research interests include the synthesis and characterization of novel nanoporous and nano-materials with various compositions, adjustable structures and controlled morphologies, with tailored functions and specific applications in bio-catalysis, bio-separation and bio-analysis; drug delivery; biomaterials for bone repair and dental applications.

The Role: The successful appointee will work on the synthesis and bio-applications of nanoporous and nanostructured materials especially in proteomics, early disease diagnosis, bio-analysis and bio-separation. You will contribute to the experimental design, materials synthesis and characterization, data analysis, and theoretical analysis. You will co-supervise PhD students, and also participate in discussions and writing the progress reports and publications.

The Person: Applicants should possess PhD in the area of nanotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, materials or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Up-to-date, hands-on, experience with EM techniques and bio-analysis and experience with bio-medical sciences is highly desirable.

Remuneration: The remuneration package will be in the range $50,698.23 – $70,116.98 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $59,16.93 - $82,036.87 p.a.). This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for three years at Research Academic level A.
