Australia : Postdoctoral Research Fellow in The School of Political Science and International Studies

The School of Political Science and International Studies is offering a 3 year full-time postdoctoral fellowship to a suitably qualified candidate eager to participate in an ongoing research agenda on gender, parenthood and employment. The School is at the forefront of teaching and research in political science and related fields in Australia and is home to a team of internationally recognised academic teaching and research staff and more than 80 postgraduate students. As part of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Queensland it has links with researchers across a wide range of social science disciplines in Schools in the Faculty and in the Institute for Social Science Research.



The role The successful candidate will work with Professor Gillian Whitehouse and colleagues on a research agenda covering areas of gender pay equity, parenthood and employment rights. She/he will contribute to the collection and analysis of survey and/or interview data, review relevant literature and work collaboratively in the conceptual development and writing of scholarly papers, books and grant applications. There will be opportunities to engage with leading scholars nationally and internationally in the advancement of scholarship in this area.



The person Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field (such as Political Science, Sociology, Gender/Women’s Studies, Labour/Organisation Studies or a related area). Essential qualities include: depth of knowledge in areas relating to gender equity and employment; highly developed scholarly skills, including capacity to collect and analyse relevant data and an excellent publication record relative to opportunity.



Remuneration The remuneration package will be in the range $50,698 - $68,768 per annum plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for three years at Academic level A.
